Chris Wragge Biography

Chris Wragge is an American news anchor. He is the co-anchor for New York’s CBS2’s “News This Morning” and CBS2’s “News at Noon”, alongside Mary Calvi. Previously Chris was  on WCBS’s 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts, until he moved to CBS’s The Early Show (nationwide), where he served as morning co-anchor from January 2011 until January 6, 2012, when the broadcast was replaced.

Chris divorced from his  first wife, Victoria Silvstedt, following the revelation of photographs featuring Victoria with another man.  A news outlet leaked Vicoria’s photos in 2007, and the couple officially divorced in 2009.

Chris and Victoria  married in the year 2000. At that time Victoria was a famous Swedish model, actress and Playboy’s Playmate of the Year. Chris was working as an anchor and sports director for NBC Sports in Houston, Texas, at the time. He later became an anchor for CBS New York.

Chris become news anchor for CBS2 News at Noon and CBS News at 5 PM with newly hired Kristine Johnson on November 6, 2006. The two replaced Mary Calvi and news veteran Roz Abrams.

Chris became the lead weekday anchor (with Erica Hill) for CBS News’s The Early Show on January 3, 2011 after serving as in the same role on the Saturday version for the past few years (while also working his primary job at WCBS). When Chris was told of impending changes to the CBS morning program in September 2011, he returned to WCBS, replacing Don Dahler as co-anchor for New York’s WCBS-TV 6 p.m. weeknight telecast, alongside Dana Tyler. He and Tyler also became co-anchors of WLNY-TV 10/55’s News at 9 p.m. in July 2012.

Chris was moved to anchor CBS 2 News This Morning and CBS 2 News at Noon  alongside Mary Calvi replacing Rob Morrison in February 2013, due to Morrison’s departure following a domestic violence incident. As a result, Dana Tyler works solo on CBS 2 News at 6PM.

Chris has been a resident of Wyckoff, New Jersey, having moved there from Manhattan.

Chris Wragge Career

Chris became sports reporter for WMUR-TV in Manchester, New Hampshire.  His first television appearance was as a reporter as part of a 48 Hours exposé on NBA Spring Break 1991. Chris then became anchor for the nightly sportscasts on WVIT-TV, an NBC affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut. He was also a reporter for NBC Sports, including the NBA, the WNBA, Notre Dame football, the Gator Bowl, the Sun America Sportsdesk, and the Olympics.

He was a correspondent with the nationally syndicated entertainment news show Entertainment Tonight from 1996 to 1997.  His first interview was with actor Kurt Russell. Chris continued on to cover the Oscars, the Emmys, and the Grammys.

Chris joined NBC Sports in 1998, and became Sports Director and anchor of the nightly sportscasts on News2Houston on KPRC-TV in Houston, Texas, and was the recipient of the 2002 Associated Press “Best Sportscast” award for the Houston area.

While still with NBC Sports and KPRC in December 2000, Chris joined USA Sports as the on-site correspondent for PGA Tour Sunday, the PGA Tour’s leading broadcast partner. Chris also became presenter of the Ask DIY, HGTV and the Travel Channel.

Chris was a behind-the-chutes reporter for the PBR’s Built Ford Tough Series during their NBC telecasts in 2003 and 2004 , and during a couple of events served as the play-by-play announcer in George Michael’s absence. After long-time sportscaster Warner Wolf was abruptly fired in 2004, he joined WCBS-TV as lead sports anchor.

If you’ve been wondering where WCBS morning anchor Chris Wragge has been, he showed and told everyone where’s he’s been on social media.

“Injury update! As you can see, no filter can make this look any better than it is,” wrote Wragge on both facebook and instagram. “Surgery was a complete success, the recovery is taking a little longer than DR’s expected. Be back @cbs2newsthismorning as soon as I can.”

In an earlier post, the anchor for the New York CBS owned station said he had surgery on his right eye muscle. Through a spokesperson, he told TVSpy he had the surgery because he was “experiencing double vision, eye fatigue and general discomfort.” He added, his recovery is taking longer than expected, but he feels good.
