Jeff Gillan Biography
Jeff Gillan is an award-winning journalist and TV news anchor. Gillan’s career has spread to four states and five stations. Gillan began reporting in 1986. He shot and edited his own stories at KFSM-TV in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He later moved to WSLS-TV in Roanoke, Virginia to further his television career and then to WKOW-TV in Madison, Wisconsin. Jeff arrived in Las Vegas in 2001 to serve as the anchor for the nightly newscast on Las Vegas One, which was a cable news partnership between KLAS-TV, Cox Communications, and the Las Vegas Sun.

For the 8 years that Gillan spent in LV1, he served as the managing director where he was responsible for the content and direction of “NewsONE at 9”. For his work in LV1 Gillan was able to win two Emmy awards for the best local newscast. He also introduced Las Vegas’ first business-oriented newscast, “In Business Las Vegas” which he also co-anchored. Jeff was able to cover various stories during his time in Las Vegas. Some of the events that he covered include the local fallout from 9/11, the housing boom-and-bust, the rise-and-fall of local politicians, gaming’s expansion and contraction and Southern Nevada’s recession and recovery.
Gillan was able to create an image for himself as an intelligent and thoughtful interviewer. He earned praise for his long-form interviews on “NewsONE” where he offered viewers unique glimpses of newsmakers and issues. In November 2009, Gillan joined KSNV-TV as Managing Editor. After four years, in 2013, he moved from management back to the anchor desk and made his first appearance on KSNV’s 3 p.m. newscast to top ratings. In 2015, Gillan moved to full-time reporting. For that one year, he earned himself an Emmy nomination for the best reporter and another Emmy award for his role covering The Cosmopolitan fire. In 2018, Jeff won an EMMY for best reporter for his work in 2017.
