Jeff Patterson Biography
Jeff Patterson is an American general assignment reporter. He has been working at WFLA-TV since 1988 and covered many stories in the Tampa Bay area. He has also been awarded notable awards for his works in journalism. One of these awards is the coveted Green Eyeshade award. This was for his work on a series that told of the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch.

Jeff Patterson Career
In his early years, he worked in many roles. He started off as a DJ for various radio stations. He also sometimes served as a news/sports anchor in four medium-to-small size markets. This was between 1978-81. He later became a News and Sports anchor at KBYU-TV from 1980-81. He also hosted and produced a magazine-like formatted talk show. After this, he interned at CNN. After a while, he was promoted to editor/photographer. In this role, he edited and produced news segments.
In January 1982, he joined WOWK-TV as a reporter. Here, he covered the state government for the capital bureau. He also covered local and national issues concerning the United Mine Workers Union. He left the station in April 1983. That same month, he joined WSPA-TV as a Bureau Chief. His work was to establish a presence in Western North Carolina. He left the station in August 1989, a few months before he joined WFLA.
Jeff Patterson has also previously worked for News Channel 8. Here he was in the station’s ‘8 On Your Side’ consumer unit. In the station, he is seen anchoring sports as well as taking his regular general assignments. Over the years, he has covered a majority of high-profile stories including the hurricane-torn Honduras and state’s biggest football rivalry in Florida’s Field. Since he began his career, he has always appreciated the diversity he gets as a reporter.
