Katherine Smith Biography
Katherine Smith is an American sports video journalist for Spectrum Sports 360 in the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida area. As a child, her family was almost always watching sports. Years later, naturally she would pick a career in the sports business.
Katherine Smith Early Life
Katherine was born and raised in the Tampa Bay Area. Her father was a member of the 1963 Robinson High Knights football team. His team played in the first-ever FHSAA sanctioned state championship game. While she was growing up, she was frequently told stories on that season. This helped raise her interest in sports. Some years after, she would find other factors that inspired her venture into a sports-related career.
She attended and graduated from Brandon High School. After this, she then moved on to the University of Florida. Here, she found out more and more that she loved about sports. Most notably, Emmitt Smith’s Gators career and the beginning of the Steve Spurrier era.
Katherine Smith Career
She started off as a sports reporter for the Tampa Tribune back in 1991. This role saw her cover such topics and stories as the Little League Baseball and the Tampa Bay Bucs. While working with the channel, she saw the famous Super Bowl win of the Bucs in San Diego. In addition, she also saw Tampa Bay Rays first World Series appearance. She was in Atlanta for the Olympic gold medal moment for Brooke Bennet, an employee of Bright House Sports Network.
In 2012, Katherine Smith joined Spectrum as a video journalist. She has worked here covering major and minor stories up to date. She is based in the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida Area. Throughout the years, her team has been awarded the top 10 APSE Awards.
