Marvin Williams born as Marvin Gaye Williams Jr. is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Previously, he played for the Atlanta Hawks and the Utah Jazz. He was the ACC Rookie of the Year in 2005, the USBWA National Freshman of the Year (2005) and the NCAA champion (2005).

After high school, he enrolled at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He helped the Tar Heels win the NCAA championship. He earned ACC Rookie of the Year and was a unanimous selection to the ACC All-Freshman Team. Besides that, he earned All-ACC Honorable mention.

He averaged  11.3 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 22.2 minutes per game and in April 2005, he declared for the NBA draft, forgoing his final three years of college eligibility. He was selected by the Atlanta Hawks with their second overall pick. In his rookie season with the Hawks, he averaged 8.5 points and 4.8 rebounds and was named to the 2005-06 All-NBA Rookie second team.

Marvin Williams Contract

After 4 seasons and the end of his rookie contract with Hawks, he re-signed to a five-year, $37.5 million deal on August 7, 2009, with the team and four seasons after, he was traded on July 11, 2012, in exchange for Devin Harris to the Utah Jazz. Later, after a short stay at Utah, he signed a two-year, $14 million contract with the Charlotte Hornets on July 21, 2014, where he ended the 2014-15 season with them averaging 7.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

A few more seasons with the team, he was re-signed with a four year, $54,512,100 contract on July 10, 2016, and has currently become one of the team foundations alongside his teammates; Kemba Walker, Tony Parker, Miles Bridges and Nicolas Batum.
