Scott Galloway Biography
Scott Galloway is a public speaker, author and entrepreneur hailing from New York. Additionally, he is a clinical professor of marketing at the New York University Stern School of Business; teaching brand strategy and digital marketing. He was named “one of the world’s 50 best business school professors” by Poets & Quants in 2012. He is also the founder of L2, Red Envelope and Prophet Brand Strategy. He was elected to the World Economic Forum’s Global Leaders of Tomorrow and has served on the boards of directors of Urban Outfitters, Eddie Bauer, The New York Times Company and UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

In the year 1992, the professor founded a brand and marketing consultancy firm called Prophet. The firm that employs over 400 professionals in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Galloway founded Red Envelope in 1997. Red Envelope was one of the earliest e-commerce sites.
In 2005 Galloway founded the digital intelligence firm L2 Inc, which was acquired in March 2017 by Gartner, for $155 million,and the now defunct Firebrand Partners (founded in 2005), an activist hedge fund that has invested over $1 billion in U.S. consumer and media companies.

L2 Inc was founded in New York City in 2010. In 2010 the company rebranded as L2, and it has since expanded its research reach to cover Auto, Activewear, Beauty, Consumer Electronics, Consumer Packaged Goods, Fashion, Financial Services, Food & Drink, Hotels, Luxury, Retail and Watches & Jewelry across all access levels. In March of 2017, L2 was acquired by Gartner. The company evaluates more than 2,200 brands annually, analyzing their website, e-commerce, digital marketing, social media, and mobile executions, and then ranks within each industry. The research L2 publishes is aimed at CMOs and senior-level digital marketing leaders to provide marketing strategy guidance.

He was elected to the World Economic Forum’s “Global Leaders of Tomorrow”, which recognizes 100 individuals under the age of 40 whose accomplishments have had impact on a global level.
He has served on the board of directors of Eddie Bauer, The New York Times Company, Gateway Computer, Urban Outfitters, and Berkeley’s Haas School of Business. Galloway is also known for his public presentations and TED-style talks,called Winners & Losers, in which he presents L2’s Digital IQ Index results, ranking over 2,500 global brands across numerous dimensions including e-commerce, social media, and digital marketing.

Scott previously predicted with enormous confidence, that Amazon would get there first, bypassing Facebook and Apple. I started predicting the ascent when the Seattle firm was worth $200B, and now it sits at $870B. During the DLD talk in January2019, he pointed out which of his last year predictions became facts and founded us a roundup of his most audacious projections for the tech industry in 2019. He was right about cryptocurrency crash and that Amazon will surpass Apple in value in 2018.
