Teri Garr was born Teri Ann Garr, is a retired actress, dancer, and singer hailing from the US. Known mostly for her comedy roles throughout her career. Her illustrious acting career spans over four decades.

Initially, she had small, minor roles in movies. In 1963 she made her debut as an extra in the movie ‘A Swingin’ Affair’. She appeared as a background dancer in several movies like ‘Viva Las Vegas’ in 1964. She appeared in commercials and had small roles in TV episodes.
Her first big role was in the psychological thriller, The Conversation in 1974. The film was a hit garnering three Oscar nominations. The film won the Golden Palm award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1974.

October 2002 was when Teri announced publicly that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis(Ms). The disease damages nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord. She has said in interviews that she started noticing the symptoms while filming Tootsie. Teri went on to be a National Ambassador for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. She is also National Ambassador for the National Chair for the Society’s Women Against MS. She was honoured as the society’s Ambassador of the year in November 2005.
Garr suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm that left her in a coma in December 2006. She regained her speech and motor skills after therapy sessions.
